Works with the Airflow you already run

NerveStax

NerveStax connects to the dbt project and Airflow you already run, whether open-source Airflow, MWAA or Astro, with GitHub or GitLab and your warehouse. Output is ordinary code in your repo, so nothing is locked in.

Astronomer

Otto is available to Astro customers through the Astro CLI and Astro IDE. Astro Observe can also sit on top of open-source Airflow, MWAA and Google Cloud Composer. Astronomer publishes open-source agent skills for other coding agents.

dbt and Airflow changes as tested pull requests

NerveStax

Each change is built and tested against a development target in an isolated sandbox, and Airflow changes can be tested by a verification DAG in your own Airflow. It opens as a pull request with results and reasoning; a person approves the merge.

Astronomer

Otto writes and edits DAGs, runs them locally, reads the logs and fixes failures before anything reaches your deployment. It also reviews pull requests with inline comments. dbt projects run as Airflow DAGs through Cosmos.

Every alert triaged before anyone is paged

NerveStax

On-call investigates every dbt, Airflow or webhook alert with read-only access, closes noise with a written reason and pages PagerDuty, Opsgenie or Splunk On-Call with the likely cause. If triage is unsure or fails, the alert escalates anyway.

Astronomer

Astro Observe scans upstream dependencies to surface the root cause of a failure and summarises logs with AI. Astro alerts go to Slack, PagerDuty, Opsgenie, email or a DAG trigger. Otto helps investigate production failures in a session.

  1. Astronomer runs managed Airflow. If you want hosting, upgrades, support and an agent from one Airflow vendor, Astro with Otto keeps it in one place. NerveStax does not host Airflow.
  2. Otto draws on Astronomer's Airflow compatibility knowledge for version upgrades and migrations from schedulers such as AutoSys. NerveStax does not plan Airflow upgrades.
  3. Astro Observe monitors data quality, SLAs and lineage across Airflow deployments. NerveStax has no anomaly detection; it reacts to alerts that other tools send.
